Calm Speech is made by Parel, working across Kochi and Singapore. It exists because the gap between what people who stutter actually need and what fluency-first apps offer had stayed open for years.
Why Calm Speech exists
Search for a stuttering app and you’ll find the same promise repeated: reduce your stutter, improve your fluency, sound more normal. Behind the promise is usually a scoring engine, a locked programme, and a paywall you meet before you understand what you’ve bought.
For a lot of adults who stutter, that framing is worse than useless. It sets fluency as the measure of a good day and, by implication, sets the person as the problem. Meanwhile the parts that actually shape a life with a stutter — anticipation, avoidance, disclosure, tiredness, self-talk — get no product at all.
Calm Speech is our answer to that gap. It tracks effort, it says nothing about fluency, and it treats the daily experience of stuttering as the thing worth supporting.

Parel is a studio at the intersection of creativity and technology, working across Kochi and Singapore. We build products end to end — research, design, engineering — and we take the sensitivity of this one seriously.
Calm Speech is being shaped with people who stutter and stammer, and we’d rather ship slowly and get the language right than launch something that quietly repeats the framing we set out to avoid.
