Privacy policy
Your reflections are yours.
Calm Speech asks people to write and speak about some of the most personal parts of their lives. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what we will never do with it.
Last updated August 2026 · Applies to calmspeech.com and the Calm Speech app
IN PLAIN LANGUAGE
Private by default
Reflections and voice notes are yours. They are not analysed, scored or reviewed by us.
Never sold
No selling, no sharing with data brokers, no ad-tech profiling anywhere.
Multi-jurisdiction
Written to meet UK GDPR, EU GDPR, India’s DPDP Act and Singapore’s PDPA.
What we collect
Before launch, the website collects only the email address you give us for the waitlist, plus an optional single answer about which group you belong to. That is used to send launch news and, if you told us you stutter, occasional invitations to test features.
Why we collect it
To run the product and to tell you when it launches. Nothing more. Content you create exists so the app can show it back to you; effort activity exists so your history is accurate.
We do not use your reflections or recordings to train models, and we do not analyse them for fluency, disfluency, or any speech measurement.
Where it is stored and for how long
Data is stored with reputable cloud providers under standard contractual protections, encrypted in transit and at rest. Waitlist emails are kept until you unsubscribe or until launch communications finish, whichever is later. App content is kept while your account exists and deleted when you delete it.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. In the app, deletion is available directly to you rather than through a support queue.
Multi-jurisdiction position
Calm Speech launches across the UK, EU, India and Singapore. We apply the strictest applicable standard rather than the local minimum: UK GDPR and EU GDPR for lawful basis, rights and transfers; India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act for notice and consent; Singapore’s PDPA for consent, purpose limitation and protection obligations.
What we will never do
Some commitments are easier to state as absolutes.
Contact and complaints
Email privacy@calmspeech.com with any request or concern and we will respond within thirty days, usually much sooner. If you are in the UK or EU you also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
This policy will be reviewed by counsel before launch, and updated as the app moves from waitlist to release. Material changes will be announced by email, not slipped in quietly.
