Meetings, calls, interviews. And the cost of holding it together.

Calm Speech is a companion for working adults who stutter and stammer — for bracing before the high-stakes moments and thinking clearly afterwards, without anything grading how you sounded.

The work nobody sees

Round-the-table introductions. The call you rehearse in the stairwell. Choosing the second-best word because the best one starts with a hard sound. The interview where you’re assessed on the exact thing you’re managing in real time.

Then there’s masking: the constant low-level effort of sounding effortless. It is invisible on any performance review, and it is one of the most tiring parts of working while stuttering. Calm Speech is built to take that seriously rather than to optimise it away.

How Calm Speech helps at work

Brace before

A short, calm two minutes before the thing — breath, pace, and one small intention you set yourself.

Reflect after

Speak or write what actually happened while it’s fresh. Private, unanalysed, and never scored.

Disclosure on your terms

Prompts and guides to help you think it through. We signpost the options; we don’t tell you to tell anyone.

Effort you can see

A record of the hard moments you walked into, which is a fairer measure of a working week than fluency.

Questions

Will it help with job interviews?

It gives you somewhere to prepare calmly beforehand and to debrief honestly afterwards. It won’t coach you to sound fluent, because that isn’t what we do.

What about presentations?

Same shape: brace before, reflect after, and practice tracks you can use if they help you. Nothing measures the presentation itself.

Should I disclose at work?

That’s yours to decide. There are good reasons on both sides, and they depend on your workplace. We lay out the considerations rather than prescribe an answer.

Is anything shared with an employer?

No. Nothing in Calm Speech is visible to anyone but you.
