Accessibility statement
Accessibility is not optional here.
Calm Speech serves a communication-disability community. A product for people who stutter that is hard to use for anyone else with a disability would be a contradiction, so we treat accessibility as a baseline requirement rather than a later phase.
Last updated August 2026 · Target standard: WCAG 2.2 level AA
IN PLAIN LANGUAGE
WCAG 2.2 AA
Our target standard for both the website and the app, tested as we build.
Keyboard and screen reader
Full keyboard navigation and labelled, screen-reader-friendly components.
Contrast and text
Text contrast checked against AA, and layouts that hold up at larger text sizes.
Our commitment
We are working to meet WCAG 2.2 level AA across calmspeech.com and the Calm Speech app, and to keep meeting it as the product changes. Where we fall short, we would rather say so publicly than claim conformance we have not tested.
What this means in practice
Accessibility work is part of the build, not an audit at the end.
Voice is never required
Because Calm Speech is used by people who stutter, nothing in the product requires speech to operate. Voice reflections are always available in written form, no feature is voice-only, and no timer pressures you to speak faster.
There is no speech recognition gate anywhere in Calm Speech. Nothing you say is measured, and nothing you cannot say will block you.
Known limitations
This statement will list specific known issues as we find them, along with what we are doing about them and when we expect a fix. At the pre-launch stage the site is under active development and we are testing as pages are built.
Report an accessibility issue
If something is hard or impossible to use, tell us at accessibility@calmspeech.com. We aim to acknowledge reports within two working days and to give you a plan and a timeframe within ten. If a fix will take longer, we will offer a usable alternative in the meantime.
If this statement itself is hard to read, that is also a bug. Tell us and we will fix it.
